After our pre-business hours tour of Cowpens we picked up John’s friend, and a fellow I had been corresponding with, Robert Ivey.  Robert is the absolute expert on the early settlers in these areas.  We visited many spots hidden away here and there that were significant in the Revolution.  We also visited some special residences at Grindol Shoals.

I knew I was in good hands when the minute we met, Robert took me over to a tree in his yard and pointed out a stone at it’s base.  It is a foundation stone from James Moseley’s house, which Bob saw before it was dozed down.  He saved this stone from the rubble.  It feels good to know there are people here that recognize and care about this history.  You will see a picture of Robert Ivey later at the Moseley place.
