Ghosts at the Inn?

Visited at the Library in Union.  It has been recognized as the best small town library in America which is is quite an accomplishment.  Peggy my innkeeper at Merridun said I should say hello to the head librarian when I was there and so I did.  The first thing out of Director Nancy rosenwald’s mouth when we met was”have you seen any ghosts over at Merridun?”

Here is the thing.  On a couple of occasions I had experienced a funny feeling.  The first time was when I had gone into a room called the Senator’s Chamber.  Peggy had showed me a book shelf full of history and genealogy books and told me to please look at them at my leisure.  Later that day I went back on my own and when I entered the room I had the distinct feeling I was intruding on someone.  I looked twice wondering if maybe some guests had checked into the room in the meantime but it was empty.  The other experience has been on a couple of occasions I have entered my room, the Governor’s Gallery, and felt like there was  going to be someone in the room – probably just Peggy I thought at the time.  The room has always been empty.

When I returned to the Inn after a great visit at the library and some looks through the collection there, I asked Peggy when she was going to tell me about the ghosts.  Her response was. “Oh.  Well, you know we haven’t lost a guest yet.”

She pointed me to a book on the check-in desk which is full of very detailed hand-written experiences by guests over the years.  Guess where two of the more common locations for these encounters is…. the Sentaor’s Chamber and Governors Gallery.

Peggy says she has never seen anything although it is common to smell cigar smoke or rose scented perfume throughout the place.

I spent the afternoon napping before going over to the courthouse.  Peggy was gone and I was alone in the big old haunted mansion.  There was even a thunderstorm outside yet I napped peacefully.  It would have been a perfect opportunity for ghosts but alas.

Here are some pictures I have taken around the Inn at Merridun.
