Maj. Joseph Stark Sims was a young lawyer from Grindal Shoals when he signed John Foster and James Moseley wills. He was also operated a textile mill on the Pacolet and was one of three representatives from Union Co. to sign South Carolina’s Ordinance of Cessation – proclaiming South Carolina’s resignation from the federal union.
He represents an interesting link between the generation that fought a Revolution and one about to fight a Civil War.
Hi, My Name is Travis Fernandis and I just so happened to type my name in the search engine of Yahoo, when your website popped along with others. I have been trying on and off for 2 years to find info. on my family’s history. It just so happens that my family is from the same area (Woodruff) as this one. Do you have any other information about the Fernandis family?
