This site was begun in 2009 as I prepared for my first trip to South Carolina in search of my family’s story.  A few days ago, Dale and I returned from my fifth trip and his third.

The site has always looked great (thanks Julie Anne) and a lot of thought was put into how to access information from it.  But the plan we hatched all those years ago made information in the site seem disconnected and unable to build a narrative.

Over the time in between I have had a number of brain waves about how to make it better.  Some were acted upon but the result was equally uninspiring leaving me without the energy to update it.

Before leaving on this last trip I discovered tables (thanks to cousin Debbie Fowler) and have implemented them as a way of allowing you the visitor and me the currator) to see the context of a person, place, event or document before delving into some finer point it relates to.  This approach seems to be working as here I am… updating the site and making a blog post.
