Duke Foster was born in Coffeyville Kansas, the first child of Andrew J. Foster and Hannah Catherine Morgan Foster.
He visited Manola once in 1911. my dad Lawrence Foster remembers he brought some very fancy fishing gear but was out fished by the locals with their willow twigs and string.
In Artifacts is a picture of a piece of birch bark he brought back from his visit and kept as a souvenier. It found its way into in mother’s album and remains as a testament to his visit to Canada to see his mother and brothers.
