Melvyn<Ewell<AndrewJ.<Jarrett<John Foster

As the mayor of Lyddleton New Zealand Melvyn Foster and his wife Shirley had opportunity to greet the visiting Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.

This photo, taken in the 1960s was a prized possession of Melvyn’s aunt Maggie (Dorothy Margart Foster) who expressed love and loyalty for the Monarch her entire life.

Melvyn had served in the Canadian merchant navy during WWII and settled in New Zealand after the war.  His work on the docks led to positions with the dock worker’s union and then to city hall.
